Happy Twos-Day

Today is Twos-day! I don’t quite know exactly what it is about today, but I have felt like this day would be significant for a while (and not just because of the launch of this blog). It is interesting that it is written 2-22-2022, AND that it falls on a Tuesday.
There are many interesting things about the number 2 when it comes to the Bible. There are two Testaments, Old & New. When God created humans he made two genders, male and female. Jesus is referred to sometimes as the Second Adam. God says that He is in the midst of at least two people.
What I felt was significant about the number 2 when it comes to the Bible is that our God is a God of second chances. The Bible is full of stories that show his mercy when someone has messed up. Abraham and Sarah thought they could do things their way and so they got Ishmael, but God still blessed Ishmael and gave them Isaac eventually. When Moses messed up and killed an Egyptian God didn’t completely abandon him, he eventually went on to lead God’s people out of captivity. When Jonah disobeyed God by not going to Nineveh He gave him a fright in the belly of a fish and then a second chance to preach to Nineveh.
I could go on and on about the stories in the Bible about multiple chances, but the best one is when God sent His son to die on the cross for our sins so that we can have a second chance as well.
And thankfully God is a triune God and after Jesus left this earth he gave us his Holy Spirit so we would never be alone, but there would always be at least the two of you, you and the Holy Spirit.
I’m excited about this blog launching today as well because the story of the Phoenix is about rebirth. That there is more than one “birth”. I love how His mercies are new every morning, and as the sun dies in its flames at night it rises the next day in the same way.
