God then called out to the seas and said. “Bring forth every swimming creature.” And so it was. The seas teemed with life. All sorts of creatures that swam and lived in the waters came into existence.
And God called out to the airs, “Be filled with every flying creature.” And it was so. The air was filled with all kinds of flying creature.
And so it was that God created the sea flying and air flying beasts. Therefore creating from the elements creatures over the elements. And the Inüyāré gazed in wonder at these new things.
Then God did a truly marvelous act. He the creator, himself came to the created. He appeared to them as one like unto them to act as a mediator. One who was himself, but was of them to go between those of elemental birth and himself, so that those who were begotten may gaze upon him to better know The Eternal One. He is called Tanalhië (He who is eternally good).
And Tanalhië came to certain creatures of both sea and sky and breathed his spirit into them. He charged them saying, “I have called you out to be brethren of the First Born. You are to care and guard for each other. For there would be some who seek to do you harm. You have been granted language and thought to better care for each other, however, if you do not keep my commands you shall return to the witless creatures you were called out from.”
All creatures responded in saying, “We hear and gladly obey”.
Thus marked the beginning of the fifth age and the birth of the Khranì (people of the wing) and their brothers the Khrandu (people of the fin). And all lived in harmony for a time.
However, it was not long before Gavakh, and his servants disguised as the Khranì mingled amongst the people and sewed seeds of dissension for each other. Soon the winged people looked down upon those who swam in the waters in disgust, thinking them lower. And those of the waters thinking their air brothers were the lesser beings.
In those days the Khranì were the great crafters of old. They were tall and very powerful, and their crafts could change landscapes. So Gavakh put in their minds a plan to separate themselves from their sea living brothers. They erected the encircling mountains as a great wall. They said to themselves, “This shall keep us from the sea and any who dwell within. We may fly over if we wish, but they cannot come to us.”
This time also Tanalhië dwelt with them and confronted their actions, “Why is it you have created these earthen walls? I have charged you to live in harmony.” Many felt ashamed that they had headed the words of dissension sewn among them. And Tanalhië said, “I have made you guardians of this land, and I charge you with it’s keeping. However, I shall soon create even more creatures. Creatures you have not yet seen, and who do not traverse the air, nor the waters. And in time I also shall make the Second Born, you are to teach them songs and be their guards as well.”
And so many were relieved and excited, thinking they were forgiven. But again Gavakh deceived the Khranì and made them proud and stubborn. Until they were united in their disdain of the Second Born. And so they contrived a plan to raise their land above the rest of the earth so that the land-dwelling creatures to could not reach them.
Their earth crafters separated the island from the mainland and caused the very soils to repel themselves. The wind crafters created gusts to lift the island into the air. The water crafters created cycling systems so that they would always have fresh water. And the fire crafters set into place climate controls so that their land may be the same at the new altitude as it was on the ground.
And Tanalhië, deeply saddened by this said, “So you wish to live alone? Then so be it. I too shall leave your land to its demise. From now on you shall look for me, but you shall not find me, until you seek me with all your heart. You shall dwindle in power and the Second Born shall inherit your portion, and they shall rule over you.
From then on Tanalhië watched from afar. Only communing with those who came to him. But always he was with them in some way, whether seen or unseen.
